Bowen technique is a holistic, gentle, hands-on, remedial bodywork. Its aim is to realign the body in its structure which thereby relieves musculoskeletal tension and pain. This is achieved from applying a series of moves over tendons, ligaments, muscle, bone and fascia, together with pauses which allow the body to acknowledge and integrate the moves.
As this is a holistic therapy the whole body is treated together with the area of pain thereby rebalancing the integrity of the organs and systems. During the treatment clients may feel a sense of calming deep relaxation.
Initially a full medical history and assessment is taken after which the gentle hands-on remedial treatment is given, where possible through light clothing. By gently assisting the body back into balance, clients have reported relief from a range of pains in the back, shoulder, knees, ankles, jaw and head together with symptoms of IBS, migraines and hormonal issues.
Bowen technique can be used alongside conventional medicine, especially during muscular skeletal surgery.
